Audience

There are two types of audience role: General Admission and Patron.

Audience: General Admission

Anyone who comes to the Santa Cruz Chronicles to enjoy the work.

The Audience is the lifeblood of these chronicles. A general admission audience member is assumed to be someone who likes to come back and read the chronicles, but who would rather not sign up to be a patron. If this is your first time here, this is you. Keeping to the theatre analogy, consider this to be someone who shows up to the ticket office from time to time to take in a show. Their ticket is stamped "General Admission."

Audience: Patron

A reader who decides they want to join an e-mail distribution list to receive notices about the chronicles.

The audience is assumed to be anyone who comes to read these chronicles as they are performed through written word and painted illustration. Patrons are those who simply take the extra step of signing up on an e-mail list. Those on the patrons list will be notified about chronicle updates, calls for stand-ins, calls for prop, play, and article submissions, notice of upcoming auditions, and other announcements. Patron is the recommended level for those new to roleplaying in general and PBeM games in particular. Patrons do not need to have any knowledge about roleplaying games or fictional writing unless they intend to participate onstage or back stage.

The name patron is just a label. There is no fee or requirement in becoming a patron. The only request that might be made from time to time through a general broadcast is to help troubleshoot a bothersome page display. But participation at any level is voluntary. Patron e-mails are not shown or distributed if one signs up via the SCC list. Visitors who wish to become patrons via the Yahoo Groups list will subscribe under Yahoo's requirements.

There are two ways to become a patron. The recommended method is to join the Yahoo Groups list: santacruzchronicles@yahoogroups.com. The reason that this is the preferred method is that you can be added to or removed from this list at your discretion, without Stage Manager involvement. With limited time, any time spent on maintenance issues and adding and removing e-mail addresses to the Patrons List is time taken away from posting and dealing with performance fiction.

If for some reason you do not wish to subscribe via the Yahoo Groups list, please access the patron sign-up sheet in the audition section. Please allow for a few weeks time to be added by form or possibly longer as there is usually a back-log of e-mail to be answered.

If you are currently a patron and would like to be removed from the patrons list, access the patron sign-up sheet and click the resignation option. Again, note that there could be a lag time of several weeks before your request is processed, another reason to use the Yahoo Groups list instead.
