Chapter 13: Imtarumbar

Fred ducked quickly under one of the great tables, hiding behind the mouldering garments and withered dry grey legs of one of the corpses seated at the table. Quickly satisfying himself that the jewelled goblet seemed real, he tucked it's heavy weight inside his shirt and waited for events to unfold.
Taurvantar seemed the first to react, drawing his sword and charging into battle. The rest of the party followed suit, with Daern and Ordain remaining behind to pester the orcs with arrows while Tirion, holding the baby in his arms, stayed behind them, to keep the babe out of harms way.
Daern cried out aloud, "YOU ARE RIGHT THAT YOU SHALL DINE TODAY! BUT NOT OF US. YOU SHALL DINE ON THE SHAFT OF AN ELVISH ARROW!"

(Rnd 1)
Taurvantar hits Orc #1 (former butler) for total 40/ES. (wounds right leg) (Orc #1 takes 4 hits/rnd and is at -10% and is stunned for two rounds.)
Ordain readies bow.
Orc #8 bypasses main party and makes beeline for Tirion
Tirion reacts by dropping bow and drawing sword, placing himself between orc #8 and baby. Orc #8 still attacks first.
Orc #8 hits Tirion for 10/AP (Tirion must parry next rnd) (+10%)
Tirion's own attack is negated.
Orc #1 cannot attack
Fred takes no action.
Eoras attacks Orc #10 and misses.
Orc #4 bypasses main party and attacks Daern. Daern takes reaction shot against charging Orc #4.
Daern (reaction shot) misses.
Orc#4 swings at Daern and misses.
Orc #5 also attacks Daern and misses.
Orc #6 fails morale roll and turns to run out north-east door.
Orc #7 attacks Eoras and misses.
Orc #3 jumps past slow moving Ranciryon and attacks Ordain. Ordain is able to get off reaction shot at -10.
Ordain hits Orc #3 for 5 hits.
Orc #3 hits Ordain for 12/BP (Ordain must parry next round at -30%)
Kal attacks Orc #1 and misses.
Orc #10 attacks Eoras and misses.
Orc #2 attacks Ranciryon for 13/AP (Ranciryon is stunned for 3 rounds and cannot parry).
Orc #9 attacks Taurvantar and misses.
Ranciryon cannot attack.

(Rnd 2)

Daern attacks Orc #4 and misses.
Orc #7 attacks Eoras and hits for 41/ES, cutting off Eoras' left leg. (Eoras drops.) Orc #7 lets out victory yell.
Orc #4 swings at Daern, bolstered by victory yell and misses.
Fred takes no action.
Orc #2 attacks Ranciryon bolstered by victory yell and misses.
Orc #10 continues to hack at Eoras' right arm bolstered by victory yell for another 20/EP (Severs muscle and tendons, making arm useless). Lets out another victory yell.
Orc #5 attacks Daern, bolstered by victory yells, and misses.
Orc #1 parries and take 4 hits from bleeding.
Ordain parries
Tirion let's Orc #8 carry forward and attacks Orc #8 from behind (00!) 45/EK (Bone is driven into vital organs and foe is down for 6 rounds. Then dies.) Tirion lets out a victory paen which cancels Orc victory yell.
Kal attacks Orc #2 and misses.
Orc #6 stops running when he hears victory yells and turns and charges to enter fray. Sees death of Orc #8 and stops to think.
Taurvantar attacks Orc #1 and misses.
Orc #3 attacks Ordain and misses.
Orc #9 attacks Taurvantar and misses.
Ranciryon is stunned and cannot parry.

(Rnd 3)

Orc #4 attacks Daern and misses.
Ordain attacks Orc #3 and misses.
Tirion attacks Orc #3 from flank (98! geez) and hits back for a 36/CK (Orc #3 has smashed muscles and broken bones in back, is at -50%, is knocked down and stunned for 6 rounds.) Tirion lets out another victory paen. Forces Orcs to make morale check.
Fred takes no action.
Orc #2 fails morale check. Abandons attack on Ranciryon and runs for north-west door.
Kal swings at Orc #2 as he departs and hits (96!) in the armpit for a 59/E&AK (Crushes ribs of Orc #2 and destroys side. Orc #2 drops and dies of nerve and organ damage in 3 rounds.). Kal yells out a victory paen.
Orc #3 is knocked down and stunned.
Orc #1 is stunned and takes 4 hits from bleeding.
Orc #9 makes morale roll. Attacks Taurvantar from flank and misses.
Orc #7 passes morale roll and continues to hack at downed Eoras. Delivers another 12/CP by stabbing at the Rohirrim's neck. Eoras is dead.
Orc #10 passes morale check and attacks Tirion and hits Tirion's back for an 20/AK (Tirion takes muscle and cartilage damage. He is stunned and unable to parry for 3 rounds, and is at -25%). Tirion goes down and the Orc lets out another victory cry.
Daern attacks Orc #4 and hits for a 19/DP.
Ranciryon is stunned and cannot parry.
Orc #6 rallies from victory cry and charges to enter fray, attacking downed Tirion, and stabbing at the elf for 7 points.
Orc #5 attacks Daern from the flank and misses.

(Rnd 4)

Orc #6 continues to attack downed Tirion and hits for a 20/EP.
Orc #10 leaves Tirion and attacks Kal, missing.
Orc #9 attacks Taurvantar from flank and hits for an 9/AK
Orc #2 exits room via north-west door.
Kal turns to attack Orc #10 and (00!) hits (obviously) for a 48/EK (Orc #10 is stunned and unable to parry next round and is at -10%).
Fred takes no action.
Orc #4 attacks attacks Daern and misses.
Orc #3 is knocked down and stunned.
Ranciryon attacks Orc #4 from flank and hits for a 16/CP (Orc #4 takes 2 hits per round and is stunned for 2 rnds).
Orc #1 attacks Taurvantar and hits for a 32/ES (Tauvantar is stunned for 2 rounds and takes 3 hits/rnd and is at -15%). Taurvantar goes down. Orc #1 takes another 4 hits from bleeding. Orc lets out a victory cry.
Daern attacks Orc #4 and misses.
Taurvantar is downed and bleeding.
Ordain attacks Orc #3 and hits for 11/DP (Orc #3 is stunned for 4 rounds and cannot parry for 2.) (Ordain adds +15% to next attack.)
Orc #5 attacks Daern from flank and misses.
Orc #9 runs.

(Rnd 5)

Daern attacks Orc #4 and misses.
Ordain attacks Orc #3 and thrusts his dagger into Orc's side for 8/DP, destroying organs and killing Orc #3. Other Orcs seeing this must make morale check.
Orc 4 makes morale check and attacks Daern and misses.
Orc #10 is stunned and unable to parry.
Orc #6 stops attack Tirion and flees for north-east door.
Kal attacks Orc #10 and hits for a 15/BP, beating Orc #10 into unconsciousness. Kal yells another paen.
Orc #9 exits room via north-west door.
Orc #5 flees from room, running for north-west door.
Fred takes no action.
Taurvantar takes another 3 hits from bleeding.
Ranciryon attacks Orc #4 and hits Orc's back from flank for 16/CP (Orc is stunned for 2 rnds and takes 1 hit/rnd.)
Orc #1 makes morale check and attacks Ordain, but fumbles attack. Orc #1 takes 4 hits from bleeding.

(Rnd 6)

Fred takes no action.
Orc #6 exits room via north-east door.
Kal attacks Orc #1 from the flank and misses.
Orc #4 goes beserk, shrugs off stun and attacks Daern, still failing to connect. Takes 1 hit from bleeding
Ranciryon hits Orc #4 from the rear for an 30/EK, cracking Orc #4's ribs. ( Ranicryon has initiative next round)
Daern hits Orc #4 for 9 hits.
Orc #5 exits from room via north-west door.
Ordain attacks Orc #1 and misses.
Taurvantar is unconscious and takes another 3 hits from bleeding.
Orc #1 turns to flee room.

(Rnd 7)

Orc #1 flees from room. Ordain takes 1 swing at departing Orc and misses. Takes 4 hits from bleeding.
Orc #4 attacks Daern and misses. Takes 1 hit from bleeding.
Daern attacks Orc #4 and hits with a 18/CS. (Minor side wound, foe is at -10% and takes 1 hit/rnd).
Ranciryon hits Orc #4's leg for 20/EP, severing muscle. Foe is at -75%. Orc #4 collapses unconscious.

Fred emerged from under the table and went over to check on the baby. Young Tarma slept on, oblivious to the death and carnage that had gone on around him. Fred looked around to see what had happened in little over a minute of time. Besides himself, only Daern, Kal, Ranciryon and Ordain were standing. The goblin Pric, had disappeared.
"So, this is victory," Fred mused quietly.

Mini move:

Fred attempted to staunch the bleeding of those who were bleeding, and asked Ordain to see if he can get Tirion and Taurvantar to drink 1/2 of a potion each.
"I think that we should burn the bodies of Eoras and the dead orcs, lest we see them fighting against us tonight. If any of these orcs are still alive we would do well to take them prisoner. They would hopefully know more than Pric did."
He stopped to think for a bit, then said "I am afraid that the only alternative I can see to burning Eoras' body is to bring it back to the hall with us, and I don't like the thought of sleeping with a dead body around. Unless we bury it outside of the grounds."
Fred also suggested that someone might wish to watch the North-West door in case the orcs regrouped. Fred began to remove anything of value from the orcs and Eoras prior to their bodies being burned.
As Ordain used one whole potion to heal both Taurvantar and Tirion, the party was surprised to see that both recovered remarkably, seeming no worse off than they had before they had been downed. In fact, judging by the brightness now returned to their eyes, it would have seemed as though they were even better.
Ordain turned to Ranciryon and said, "Our ancestors made things well."
Ranciryon nodded, looking around him and saying, "Too well, methinks."

(Taurvantar and Tirion are each restored to full health, plus each received +1 to permanent base hit total.)

(Fred finds 25 pieces of gold and 125 pieces of silver upon Eoras, plus his sword. There is nothing of note upon the orcs save a severed hairy foot, obviously a hobbit's, and probably once belonging to a Stoor, judging the size and shape. It seems to have been kept as a lucky charm and smells quite musty.)
