I'm requiring beginning characters; but it is not much fun for some of you to play a character less than 100 years old, when you really want to play some Spartan hoplite stepped out of the battle of Platea. Well, you can still do that, but he can only have been active for less than 100 years total. Back in the 1700's, in Austria, a corpse of a Celtic man was discovered in a salt mine that had been worked right up to that time. He had apparently been killed in a cave in and his body had been preserved in the salt. The villagers who discovered him were very superstitious and burned his body, since he was a pagan. Imagine however if that ancient Celt were actually a warrior immortal who had been trapped in a mine collapse and who wasn't released until modern times. When he came to in, say 1910, the world was much different. That character has only been active for 85 years by the time of the campaign though he was born in 800 B.C. This is just one example, but remember that though immortals cannot die, they do enter a state similar to a Vampire's torpor when they have no air or other situations arise (consult your rulebooks). If you are creative, you can still have that character stepped out of the history books.

What to expect from:

Magi: In the tass hungry world of Santa Cruz, you're a great source, but only if they kill you properly. In fact, that great rash of headless bodies the local police are now dealing with might not be the work of another immortal at all. Word has it that some Magi are luring immortals to the area, only to kill them to create and fuel a powerful Node. Good luck with these guys. You never know who you're talking to.

Mortals: If the police don't arrest you for chopping off a rival's head, then who knows how a given mortal might see you. She might see you as someone "cool" who knows secrets out of time, a great teacher, or as the spawn of Satan.

Vampires: You're a snack until they discover they can't feed off you. Then you're useless and probably a menace since you know about them.

Werewolves: You're judged like a mortal would be. Are you for Gaia or not? There are no neutrals in their war.

Wraiths: They probably hate you or envy you, but other than that, won't have much to do with you unless they want something. And it seems they always want something.
